About Us

The purpose of the Texas A&M University Black Former Student Network shall be to promote, strengthen and defend the Vision and Mission of the Texas A&M University Association of Former Students and the University at large by strengthening the bonds of affection between the current African American Alumni, current students, the University and the communities in which we live, work, serve and learn.

Vision

To achieve a diverse and supportive Texas A&M University (professors, staff and students) that enables and defends all African American students’ right to maximize their time, investment and talent through all the abundant resources available to them from the University.

Mission

To actively engage and support the current and future programs for recruitment, retention and career preparation of African American Students at TAMU.The Goals and Objectives of the Organizations shall include (but not be limited to) the following :
A. To promote and protect the education interests of African American Students currently enrolled at Texas A&M University
B. To raise money for scholarships for African American Students wanting to attend Texas A&M University
C. To design and support exposure and experience programs for African American High School Students wanting to attend Texas A&M University
D. To mentor current African American Students at Texas A&M University on college, college life and career preparations/opportunities
E. To increase the student body percentage of African Americans enrolling in and graduating from Texas A&M University
F. To support the activities of Texas A&M University toward the realization of its educational programs in every manner possible
G. To establish and promote goals and programs which strengthen the ties between the African American current students, the African American Alumni, the community, and the University
